Oman authority signed an agreement to support 10 million trees planting initiative

    The Environment Authority and Nama Group today signed a memorandum of cooperation to allocate OMR 100,000 as a contribution for the national initiative to plant 10 million trees.

    The MoC was signed by Dr. Abdullah Ali al-Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, and Eng. Omar Khalfan al-Wahaibi, CEO of Nama Group, The Arabian Stories reports.

    Dr. al-Amri affirmed in a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) that the authority and the departments concerned have set a plan to press ahead with the initiative. Therefore, the greenhouses were expanded and new ones were established and provided with seeds from the recently established seed bank, added Dr. al-Amri, who pointed out that community and formal teams were formed to collect these seeds from various types of wild trees in the Sultanate as well as organizing farming campaigns in selected sites.

    The agreement states that Nama Group allocates OMR 100,000 of its social responsibility funding to support farming projects and initiatives; in addition to contributing with quantities of treated water from its sewage plants for five years which will cover a number of governorates.
