A group of 200 students planted 200 saplings at Al Qudra Tree Plantation site, in collaboration with Emirates Environment Group on 15th December 2021, Gulfnews reports. When 200 young leaders took action to save the planet one tree at a time, it was a sight to behold. Through the collaboration with Emirates Environmental Group, UAE, our students have been able to contribute to a global solution.
In the words of Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Chairperson, Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), “We are delighted to announce our partnership with Westford University College where we will plant a sapling in the name of each student who joins their program in the UAE. We congratulate the management of Westford University College for rolling out this initiative with the belief that youth can influence others to adopt a more environmentally friendly lifestyle.”
Westford’s Executive Director Hanil Das says the organization is committed to Generation Restoration: Ecosystem Restoration for People, Nature, and Climate. In keeping with our commitment, Westford will plant a sapling for every student enrolled in the next year. Westford has partnered with EEG to plant 550 trees in the UAE and is in discussion with an NGO called, ‘One Tree Planted’ in the USA to plant trees globally. Within the next 12 months, we hope to be able to plant 2,000 trees in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Our efforts are geared towards educating our students to preserve and conserve nature and to protect the environment.”
