The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) and Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries (OQ8) signed on Sunday an agreement covering a technical cooperation program to exchange expertise and information on environmental protection and pollution control, Oman Observer states.
The pact was signed by Eng Ahmed bin Hassan al Theeb, Deputy Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones and Eng Wael bin Khalid bin Salmeen, Operation CEO of Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Company.
The technical cooperation program stipulates building local capacities in environmental disciplines, opening communication channels to exchange expertise and scientific information between the two sides in the field of environmental protection and pollution control. It also includes organizing awareness programmes and environmental events, and holding regular meetings under the name of – the green table – to discuss common environmental issues and find the appropriate solutions to relating challenges.
The pact also stipulates preparing annual action plan to translate areas of cooperation disciplines into achievements to be implemented and followed up throughout the year by the departments concerned in environmental protection and pollution control in both sides.
