The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and the Environment Authority announced on September 29 the five winning projects in the 2021 Biodiversity Ideathon, Times of Oman reports.
The projects varied between smart farming and production systems, artificial intelligence (AI) applications, modern irrigation systems, organic fertilizer products, pesticides, organic control, and organic cleaning and natural waste recycling products.
Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, asserted that this partnership between the ministry and the authority stems from their belief in innovation and scientific research to achieve environmental goals.
He added that the participant’s ideas were excellent and served the environment. They also achieve part of the 10-million-tree planting initiative, which is a national and global goal as it reduces emissions and improves air quality, said Dr. Abdullah.
At the end of the ceremony, the Chairman of the Environment Authority honored the winning projects.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Saif Abdullah Al Haddabi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation for Scientific Research and Innovation.
